Maureen began coaching in 2000, but has been involved with competitive swimming in Columbia since childhood. She continued with the Columbia Clippers through High School, and participated in club swimming at University of Maryland, College Park, before moving on to explore other club-level sports. She achieved ASCA Level I certification with the Columbia Clippers as an Age Group coach, and participated in courses on stroke mechanics and physiology. She has more than a decade's experience teaching swimmers of all ages and levels, from two years old to adult. Her own athletic goals include triathlon and open water swimming. Maureen holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, and is currently working towards a doctoral degree in Molecular Medicine/Cell Physiology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
