News From
Marriotts Ridge High …
Hope everyone has had a safe and relaxing
summer! We will be sending out student
schedules and “Welcome Back” letters on August 10, but we thought that we would
let you know about a few things now…
Hope you all had a chance to look at our “Senior
News” that came out a few days ago.
Even though this news is geared more towards our seniors and their
families, we felt that it would be good for everyone to see for future
use.
Some great news to share … our students
did very well on the 4th Quarter Howard County Local Assessments,
SATs, and the AP tests! On the quarterly
assessments, Marriotts Ridge again ranked at the top end of the county,
achieving Top 3 status on 10 of the 14
individual subject tests …our English 10 and Intro to Geometry scores were the
best in
On the SATs, we were very impressed
by the accomplishments of our students this year …among our rising senior
class, 19 students scored over 2100, averaging 700 or higher on the
three tests (critical reading, writing, and math). 5 students scored a perfect score of
800 on one of the tests … we were represented by at least one student with
a perfect score in each area. Many other
students were very close to this top group …congratulations!
Reviewing MRHS AP data, 156
students took 326 advanced placement tests.
88% of our test scores were 3 or above.
72 of the tests taken by MRHS students received the top score of 5 … 22%
of our total. Our Biology, Computer
Science A, Computer Science AB scores averaged over 4 with Computer Science AB leading the way at 4.4. We applaud our students and teachers for all
of their hard work and effort … Outstanding!
Now for a couple of upcoming dates …
Fall Sports start on August 15 … be
on the lookout for updates from Mr. Brown.
Freshman Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 23 from
1 to 2:30 PM.
Back to School Night will take place on Wednesday, September 5
at 7 PM.

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer … it
has been nice running into MRHS students and families at summer league football
games, the shopping center, swim meets, the movies.
